Wetlands are one of the most important ecosystems in Hulun Lake.

As the only large lake within thousands of kilometers in the arid regions of northern China, Hulun Lake ties up more than 80 rivers, whose watersheds cover an area of 370,000 square kilometers. 

Within the area, there are many grassland lakes of different sizes, forming an extremely large water system.
