Any solution related to the Palestinian issue should heed the voice and propositions of parties concerned, especially Palestine, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said Wednesday after the United States revealed the political aspect of its controversial Middle East peace plan.
The solutions should be reached through equal dialogue and negotiation, and should be conducive to settle the Palestinian issue in a comprehensive, just and sustained manner at an early date, Hua said.
The spokesperson also emphasized that China has always believed that relevant UN resolutions, the two-state solution and the "land for peace" principle, represent the basis for solving the Palestinian issue, which should be respected.
U.S. President Donald Trump revealed the long-awaited plan on Tuesday, calling for a two-state solution while recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's "undivided capital."
Thousands of Palestinians demonstrated in Gaza against the plan on Tuesday.
