H5N1 bird flu kills 4,500 chickens in central China

The Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs reported a case of a highly pathogenic H5N1 bird flu in Shaoyang City, central China's Hunan province.

The virus has killed 4,500 chickens in the city.

Local authorities have sealed off and sterilized the infected area, where a total of 17,828 chickens have been culled and safely disposed, according to the ministry.
