Chinese Vice Premier Sun Chunlan on Sunday inspected the facilities and equipment at Wuhan's Huoshenshan Hospital, and stressed that the military and local government should join hands to firmly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on the prevention and control of the epidemic, and implement the deployment of the central leading group on the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.

"With the support of the government and the people, we are sure to win this smokeless war," Sun said. 

She told the military medical workers present that while actively treating patients, they must also pay attention to their own safety.

Wuhan's Huoshenshan Hospital, one of the two makeshift hospitals dedicated to treating patients infected with the novel coronavirus, was formally delivered to military medics on Sunday. 

It is scheduled to take patients starting Monday.

The hospital, covering 34,000 square meters, will provide 1,000 beds.

A total of 1,400 medical staff from the armed forces are tasked with treating patients at the hospital. 

The construction of another makeshift hospital, Leishenshan Hospital, is underway. With a capacity of 1,500 beds, it is scheduled to be put into use on February 5 and take patients on February 6.
