Pakistani President Arif Alvi has praised China's efforts in fighting the novel coronavirus in a letter to Chinese President Xi Jinping and hailed the response of Chinese leaders as a model for the world.

Alvi said he felt sorry for the loss of lives in the coronavirus outbreak and that Chinese leaders have shown exemplary perseverance and dedication.

China has made great efforts in dealing with the epidemic, which is recognized by the international community, he said, adding that the World Health Organization has praised China's quick response to the coronavirus.

The president said he is confident that the strong Chinese nation will overcome this difficulty and that Pakistan stands with China.
