The construction of Wuhan's Leishenshan prefab hospital has entered its final stage. The special medical facility would be dedicated to treating coronavirus-infected patients. A window manufacturer in southwest China's Sichuan Province is working round the clock to ensure the completion of the hospital as scheduled.
The company in the city of Jianyang transported the remaining batch of windows to Wuhan City, central China's Hubei Province, on Tuesday, two days before the hospital is expected to go into operation. Out of the 700 sets of windows ordered by the constructor on January 30, the company has already delivered the first batch of some 300 sets in stock.
The integrated windows with guardrails are a patented product of the company. The order was placed at a time when a large number of enterprises across the country are suspended due to the virus outbreak. The company filed an application to local authorities to resume the production immediately and tried to purchase raw material in the quickest possible time.
"Staff from the city's disease control and prevention center and a local hospital conducted a health check up on our workers before we kicked off," said Hu Qiang, general manager of Hongtai Door Industry Company.
After successfully completing this mission, the company is now proceeding to produce another 800 sets of windows for other makeshift hospitals under construction in Shenzhen and Foshan.
Leishenshan Hospital is the second makeshift hospital in Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak, to treat pneumonia patients infected with novel coronavirus. The first one – Huoshenshan Hospital, started taking patients on Tuesday morning.
