Police have sealed off a number of streets in central London after an unexploded 250-kilogram World War Two bomb was discovered.

The device, possibly dropped by German aircraft during World War Two, was found near Soho's Dean Street. Soho is a lively part of the British capital, housing a number of businesses, restaurants and bars. The expanded cordon in the neighborhood has facilitated the evacuation of thousands of workers in and around the area.

Umika Verma, a public relations officer, told CNN the incident occurred by the Soho Hotel, opposite her office. "Police said to our receptionist that everyone has to get out," she said.

This was not the first discovery of World War Two bombs in recent years. In 2018, a similar device weighing half a tonne was found buried in silt in the River Thames. All flights to and from the airport were canceled on that day.
