Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen landed at Beijing Capital International Airport on Wednesday afternoon. He was received by Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Hua Chunying confirmed the visit earlier in the day, saying that the Cambodian prime minister spoke highly of China's efforts against the coronavirus epidemic and expressed belief that China will overcome the current difficulties soon.

"We fully understand that Prime Minister Hun Sen cares deeply for the Cambodian students in China," Hua said.

Noting Hun Sen's proposal of visiting Wuhan in central China's Hubei Province, she said the visit could not be arranged "considering the fact that Wuhan is doing all it can to fight the outbreak, and given the tight schedule."

"China attaches great importance to the health and security of Cambodian students in China. We will do our best to care for them as our own and make sure they have all they need during their study in China," said Hua.

In a Facebook post, Hun Sen said that he planned to meet the Chinese president and premier during this working visit before returning to Cambodia on Wednesday night.
