Schools in Shanghai won't open until the end of February

Shanghai Municipal People's Government had extended the school holidays till the end of February in view of the new coronavirus situation.

It was previously announced that schools would not begin the new term before February 17.

Once the schools' opening time is confirmed, the government will notify the public in advance to set aside time for teachers, students, and parents to make arrangements.

Training institutions and nurseries in Shanghai have suspended offline services until the end of February, according to the announcement of Shanghai Municipal People's Government on January 23.

Shanghai is not the only place that postponed the starting of the new term to late February. Zhejiang Province also announced schools would not open before February 17.

Besides, some examinations have also been postponed over coronavirus outbreak, including Tests for English Majors (TEM) and the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

Meanwhile, according to a guideline released by the Chinese Ministry of Education, more than 20,000 online courses have been opened to guarantee the continuance of academic activities during epidemic prevention and control period.
