About 30 percent of those who have been tested for the novel coronavirus on the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan have been found to be positive. The Japanese authorities have tested only 12 percent of the 3,700 aboard. Those infected include one quarantine officer and five crew members. The tests were conducted on those with symptoms or who had close contact with the patients.
The cruise ship remains anchored off the coast of Japan. It was placed in a two-week quarantine after a passenger who disembarked in Hong Kong last month was diagnosed with the virus. The quarantine is expected to end on February 19.
