Hong Kong's Chief Executive Carrie Lam is holding a news conference and is expected to give updates on Hong Kong residents aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship.  

Japan government announced on Friday that they will allow some elderly passengers on the quarantined cruise who tested negative for COVID-19 to disembark ahead of schedule. On Thursday, 44 more new coronavirus cases were confirmed on the ship, bringing the total to 218. 14 Chinese people, including two from Chinese mainland, 11 from Hong Kong and one from Taiwan have been infected, according to the Chinese embassy in Japan.
