Plum blossom is highly appreciated in Chinese culture. The five petals of the plum blossoms symbolize happiness, good luck, longevity, peace. The plant, native to East Asia, is a popular subject in traditional Chinese paintings and poetry. The fruit of the tree is also used to make juices and sauces. The plant flowers in cold late winter and early spring, therefore, it also stands for courage and hope.

In Mount Huangshan, one of China's most notable mountains in east China's Anhui Province, the plum trees have already started to blossom attracting many birds.
