Wall Street Journal has published an article titled "China is the Real Sick Man of Asia," describing China's initial response to the epidemic as "less than impressive." The Chinese Foreign Ministry hit back at the claims Monday, saying it belittles the efforts to fight the virus. And on Friday, an article published on the APAC News website hit back at the claims made in the Wall Street Journal. Its author, editor-in-chief Marcus Reubenstein asked: "Have western reports on the coronavirus crisis pulled aside a mask that reveals an ugly racism?" CGTN talked to Reubenstein about the reasons that prompted him to hit back. "I thought somebody just got it wrong. Definitely it's an attack on China, its government and its economy. The headline is outrageous," he said.
