The representatives of Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Center of the government of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) told the media on Monday that Macao's gaming industry will resume business starting February 20.

Casinos can apply for delayed opening based on their own conditions, with a buffer period of 30 days, and will fully open after the expiration. 

Medical certificates for expats

In addition, Macao also requires foreign employees to submit medical certificates for entry.

In a bid to strengthen the epidemic prevention and control measures in Macao, foreign employees who have been to the Chinese mainland 14 days before entering the SAR are required to undergo a 14-day medical observation at a place in south China's Zhuhai City designated by Macao SAR's Health Bureau and obtain a valid infection-free certificate issued by Zhuhai's medical authorities. 

Foreign employees who fail to under go such a process are required to undertake a medical observation and pay relevant costs at designated places in Macao SAR, according to the requirements of the health bureau.   

Macao SAR authorities ordered casinos to halt operation amid novel coronavirus outbreak earlier this month. As of 3 p.m. on February 17, a total of 10 cases of novel coronavirus infection had been confirmed in Macao. No new confirmed cases have been reported in the SAR for 13 consecutive days.
