Egrets frolic on the river in E China

Some graceful visitors were caught having a good time on February 17, 2020, in Huangshan City, east China's Anhui Province. They are little egrets. In the pictures below, they frolic and forage upstream on the Xin'an River. Please enjoy!

In Chinese, the "little egret" is called Bai Lu (white egret). In fact, "egret" is the name of all heron species that have white plumage. As aquatic birds, they feed in shallow water and on land, consuming a variety of small creatures. Globally, they are not listed as a threatened species.
