CMG launches 3.1-bln-yuan welfare project to help Hubei confront virus

China Media Group (CMG) officially launched a public welfare project worth 3.1 billion yuan (about 441 million U.S. dollars) on Thursday to help central China's Hubei Province to combat the COVID-19.

The project, themed "Brand Empowerment Project," aims to help the province, the epicenter of the outbreak, win the battle against the COVID-19 with strengthened power and clarified measures.

First, CMG will use 100 million yuan to set up a public welfare fund to help the families of medics who have made sacrifices during the combat, including educational expenses and elderly support.

Also, CMG will provide 500 million yuan in advertising resources to support 30 to 50 enterprises in Hubei.

The group will also mobilize some enterprises participating in the project to donate their own products or purchase urgently needed living materials for the province. The donation will be exchanged for advertising resources totaling a billion yuan. 

Furthermore, CMG has decided to offer 1.5 billion yuan worth of advertising to companies that have already made donations to Wuhan.

The enterprises in the project have already raised a total of 1.5 billion yuan worth of cash and 7.5 billion yuan worth of materials for Hubei.
