The hare is probably one of the most beloved animals in the world. The furry animals look adorable and are known to be very fast, reaching up to 70 kilometers (43 miles) an hour. In contrast to rabbits who are born helpless, a leveret (a hare less than one year old) is mobile from the moment of birth and is born with eyes open. Besides, they have longer ears than rabbits and are usually bigger than average rabbits as well. Today, hares are found all over the world except Antarctica.

Here are some photos of hares taken in Dom Zaitsa (Hare's Home), a rescue center for wild hares in Moscow, Russia. The center releases rehabilitated animals back into the wild and serves as a home for disabled animals and animals with behavioral problems.
