Chinese health officials have been urging patients who have recovered from coronavirus to donate blood, so that plasma can be extracted to treat critically ill patients. Plasma from recovered patients contains antibodies that can help reduce the virus load in patients.
Mr. Zhao, who declines to have his full name disclosed, has just recovered from the coronavirus pneumonia, went directly to a blood donation van to make his contribution.
"I saw on the news how plasma can help other patients. I discussed it with my wife a couple of days ago; she is also being discharged today. I hope my donation can help save more lives. For those that are still recovering: stay strong!"
