About 1,000 red-crested pochards are wintering with hundreds of swans at the Keluke Lake-Tuosu Lake Nature Reserve in northwest China's Qinghai Province.

Also known as the swan lake, the Tuosu Lake attracts hundreds of swans every year during the season.

This year, a large flock of red-crested pochards joined them, making the lake more glamorous.

It's quite rare to see such a big community of red-crested pochards in China. They feed on aquatic plants and build nests by the lakeside.

The Keluke Lake-Tuosu Lake nature reserve, with an area of 115,000 hectares, serves as an ecological screen for the remote western China city of Delingha in Qinghai. It plays an important role in maintaining biodiversity in the region.
