Together with her sister Yuan Quan and neighbor Tang Jiufei, she managed to organize a shopping group for people in her community, after the authorities tightened the city's lockdown to contain the virus. A supermarket manager in the city told CGTN their service is only available in emergencies, for communities and some group purchases. /CGTN
Yuan collects food orders in an online chat group for neighbors in need, her sister takes care of the finances, and Tang manages purchasing and logistics. They also taught the elderly how to transfer money online, as most of them were not familiar with online payment. People were notified to fetch their groceries by their building number, as a way to avoid gatherings. /Yuan Hong
During this special time, Yuan said the neighborhood has been cooperative and willing to help each other. Aware of the risk of infection she faces, she remains optimistic. "It's nice to be able to help people. By helping others, I'm also helping myself."
