Employees at a scenic area recently captured footage of tufted deer in Jiuzhaigou County in Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, southwestern China's Sichuan Province.

The footage shows a cute deer leisurely finding food in the forest, and another one licking its legs in the grass.

The tufted deer, or Elaphodus cephalophus, is a rare species under second-class state-protection in China.

The name comes from the prominent tuft of black hair on its forehead. It is often nicknamed as "vampire deer" for its fang-like canines.

It is rare to film tufted deer with a mobile phone at such a close range.
