China's top customs authority issued 10 measures on Monday in support of the steady growth of foreign trade along the China Railway Express line amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
The China Railway Express, also known as the "Belt and Road on rail," is driving China's efforts to boost connectivity with Eurasian markets.
The General Administration of Customs (GAC) said in a notice that efforts will be made to further simplify customs clearance procedures, strengthen the construction of hub stations and promote the development of multimodal transport business.
The measures allows enterprises to choose their own customs clearance mode, meaning they can choose to go through customs clearance procedures at the port of entry, exit, or go through relevant procedures in their territories.
In order to reduce the number of declarations and the cost of declarations, enterprises can apply to the customs to merge manifests, said the statement.
The GAC will also strengthen customs cooperation, support the construction of the China Railway Express hub site, and promote the development of the Express' multimodal transport business.
The customs mentioned that it supports using China Railway Express to expand exports, and the expansion of its services.
It also stressed that it will intensify cooperation with Belt and Road Initiative countries in mutual recognition in "Authorized Economic Operator", support the construction of supervised bonded places, and strengthen information sharing and interconnection.
