Colleagues mourned the death of Peng Yinhua, a 29-year-old Chinese doctor who postponed his wedding to fight the COVID-19 outbreak. He passed away due to infection, leaving behind a pregnant fiancee.
Peng, a respiratory critical care doctor, was infected while treating coronavirus patients at the First People's Hospital in Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak. He passed away at 21:50 on February 20, despite Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital's medical staff's all-out efforts to save his life.
The hospital had allowed him to take a holiday for his wedding, but Peng offered to delay the big day to stand with his colleagues in these dire times. Peng never got to send his wedding invitations, which are still in his office drawer.
On the first day of the establishment of the isolation ward, Peng treated all 130 beds. The hospital set a memorial hall, where doctors and nurses have been paying respects and sharing their memories on the funeral guest book. The Jiangxia District health bureau has also expressed condolences to the doctor's family.
