Critically endangered Baer's pochard appears in SW China's Yunnan

Baer's pochard, a migratory bird labeled as critically endangered on the IUCN Red List, was recently seen in southwest China's Yunnan Province. /Xinhua

The Qinghuahai National Wetland Park in Baoshan, Yunnan welcomed a male Baer's pochard, whose species usually reproduces in far east Russia and east China and travels to south China, Myanmar, Thailand, India, Bangladesh and Japan to spend the winter. /Xinhua

According to the management center of the park, 209 kinds of birds have been seen at the park, and this is credited to the improving environment. In late 2019, Baer's pochards were also pictured in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province. /VCG
