Hubei officials hold the province's 34th press conference to brief public on efforts to treat and control COVID-19 in Wuhan, the epicenter of the COVID-19 epidemic. Wuhan is on lockdown for a consecutive 36 days since January 23. The recovered cases have been on the rise, while the newly confirmed and suspected cases are declining. 

"The recovered cases outnumbered the confirmed patients in hospital, leaving more empty beds in dozens of hospitals in Wuhan, which gave to the phenomenon of 'beds in need of patients,'" said Wang Xinghuan, dean of Leishenshan Hospital on Thursday.
