Danish shipping group A.P. Moller-Maersk has been facilitating the delivery of medical supplies for areas hit by the coronavirus outbreak in China, Caroline Wu, managing director of Maersk Greater China, told CGTN.

The novel coronavirus outbreak that began in Wuhan, central China's Hubei Province, has weighed on people's daily lives and many business sectors in the country.

In line with the efforts of the Chinese government to contain the spread of the virus and return normalcy to everyday life, the private sector, including foreign-invested firms, has contributed to the epidemic battle in its own way.

"We use our transport and logistics expertise to support a number of our clients with facilitating the delivery of medical supplies for the affected areas," Wu said.

"Maersk has already donated a total of 192,000 face masks from Europe to Hubei Province, and we will continue procuring and delivering relief supplies worldwide to the epidemic center," she added.

"After the outbreak of the coronavirus, our thoughts are with our employees, customers, and all people in China," Wu stressed, "A.P. Moller-Maersk, together with its brands, actively take initiatives to provide support to China."

The group has joined the Green Channel initiative, launched by Alibaba Group's logistics arm Cainiao, to expedite the delivery of medical-aid donations to areas in China hit by the coronavirus outbreak.

"Meanwhile, we provide tailor-made logistics solutions to mitigate the impact of our customers' supply chain. Maersk will closely monitor the situation and we will do whatever we can to help China and our customers," Wu said.
