Pygmy chameleon on the tip of a pencil will melt your heart
CGTN

Paignton Zoo in Devon, UK, has welcomed new residents: 17 critically endangered Nguru spiny pygmy chameleons. They are one of the smallest reptiles in the world, so small they can stand on the tip of a pencil. Slide the gallery to take a look:

The 17 chameleons are now in quarantine, in order to help staff learn more about their care and breeding, gaining invaluable knowledge about the wild population and need of support from zoos. A major threat to this species is pet trade, which can be detrimental due to its very small population size. To combat this, the species has recently been listed on CITES Appendix II, so now this species is under protection.
