A month and a half into the COVID-19 outbreak, many foreigners in China remain hopeful that it will end soon. Among those helping China in its fight are foreign students at one of the nation's most renowned universities for women. International students at China Women's University are also playing an important part in the fight against the epidemic, conveying compassion and support to China and Chinese people. They are spreading positive energy and letting the world hear their voices.

One of them, Effum is from Ghana. She has posted information online such as tips on how to keep healthy and safe, and express her heartfelt homage to medical workers who are risking their lives to rescue patients.

"We believe conveying our encouragement and feelings to them is one thing. We are using social media outlets such as WeChat to show our encouragement through our messages and videos that we are doing to put out there," said Effum.

As China's first collegiate institution for women, China Women's University in Beijing has played a leading role in protecting women's rights and interests.

A group of volunteers consisting of faculty and staff has been organized to donate daily necessities and sanitary products, especially for female medical workers in central China's Hubei Province, the COVID-19 epicenter.

Liu Liqun, president of China Women's University, said providing international students with masks and food to guarantee their health and safety is also a top priority.

"They were excellent female leaders in their home countries before they came to China. Last May, Professor Peng Liyuan, wife of President Xi Jinping, also met with them. And our leaders from the All-China Women's Federation have also given them audience. Chairwoman Shen Yueyue and Vice Chairwoman Huang Xiaowei visited them before the Lantern Festival and they came to the international students' dormitories to extend their blessings and encouragement," Liu said.

Many foreign nationals speak highly of China's anti-epidemic work.

York, an international student from Venezuela, said she has been amazed at the response of the Chinese government and the university in the context of the crisis. "I am so impressed by the resilience of the Chinese people. They are really helpful about all the prevention measures and activities they are doing right now during the quarantine, to prevent the spread of the virus. I have learned so much, I want to bring the experience back home," York added.

Those international students have taken China as their second home. In the fight against coronavirus, they have been standing firmly with the Chinese people and believe that China will prevail.
