SABIC, a Saudi Arabia's stated-own petrochemicals manufacturer, has responded to the Chinese government's calls to support the urgent production of personal hygiene and healthcare products, and medical equipment.

SABIC has been in China for more than three decades. Therefore, the company is sparing no effort to help in the fight against the coronavirus outbreak, according to Li Lei, SABIC vice president and regional head for North Asia.

Shortly after the initial outbreak, the company began to support the urgent production of personal hygiene and healthcare products as well as medical equipment, in response to the government's call for aid.

"With comprehensive support of all levels of government, all of our manufacturing facilities in China – in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing, and particularly in Tianjin through our joint venture with Sinopec, are resuming operations at full speed," he detailed.

Besides cash donation, the company has also delivered materials to meet the production needs for respirators and monitors, which were assigned to Huoshenshan and Leishenshan hospitals in Wuhan.

"I would like to reaffirm SABIC solidarity support for all of those affected by the coronavirus outbreak. We see encouraging signs, as confirmed by the World Health Organization, that China has peaked and seen the plateau," Li told CGTN.

On February 25, Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke with King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia in a phone call, where he expressed great appreciation to King Salman and Saudi Arabia for voicing, on multiple occasions, firm support to China.

"We have every reason to believe that with the strength and determination from China, the world will see how resilient this country can be and how strong its people are," Li stressed.

He also says that the company will try to "aid in future economic recovery and to continue our legacy of working with China for collaborative and inclusive future."
