Bosten Lake is China's largest inland freshwater ingluent-effluent lake – meaning a lake where water flows both in and out. Located in Bayingol Mongolia Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of northwest China, the name "Bosten" means "oasis" in the Uygur language. The gallery below are aerial pictures shot above Bosten Lake. Reeds, alkali beaches and newly melted ice weave together and become colorful paintings.
