Turkey has announced a renewed offensive in Syria, in response to attacks on Turkish troops in the northwestern province of Idlib over the last week. Ankara says dozens of its soldiers have been killed in airstrikes by the Syrian government. Turkey's defense ministry says it has retaliated by destroying Syrian air defense systems, over 100 tanks, and two warplanes. Syria has closed its northwestern airspace, as state media reports that government forces have shot down a Turkish drone. This comes as top Russian and Turkish diplomats hold talks over the conflict. A meeting between the two countries' leaders is reportedly scheduled for Thursday in Moscow.
