Doctors in east China's Zhejiang Province completed a double-lung transplant surgery on a 66-year-old COVID-19 patient. The patient had several negative nucleic acid test results after receiving a trachea cannula a month ago. However, she was still suffering from irreversible pulmonary dysfunction.
Doctors said a lung transplant was the only way to save her. During the 10-hour operation, doctors and nurses had to stay in a negative pressure room wearing protective suits. The woman is in stable condition now.
