The general administration of the Chinese customs on Thursday gave unified command to the anti-smuggling bureaus in different cities to carry out anti wildlife-smuggling operations, and cracked a major case of smuggling of wildlife products under the second-class state protection. 12 suspects were arrested and 20.3 tonnes of wildlife products were seized on the spot.

Customs offices across the country will continue to crack down on the smuggling of wildlife and related products, strengthen international law enforcement cooperation, step up border patrol and control, and crack down on illegal and criminal smuggling of wildlife and its products. Actions will be taken more strictly and more quickly so as to cut off the smuggling chain.

China's customs will fully support the fight against the epidemic and earnestly safeguard the ecological security and people's physical and mental health at the border.
