Photographer Marc Mol captured a mother cheetah taking care of her offspring in a rare and precious moment on the Namiri Plains in eastern Serengeti. One tiny cheetah cub clung to its mother's back as she moved through the plains.
The cheetah lives in North, Southern and East Africa. It's one of the fastest land animals. Unlike tigers and lions, which are active mainly at night, cheetahs are active during the daytime. Due to the loss of habitat and poaching, the population of the species is declining. The cheetah is listed as "vulnerable" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
