Japan confirms 420 more coronavirus cases, total hits 1,116

Japan has confirmed 420 more cases of the novel coronavirus on Friday, bringing the total number to 1,116, according to Japan's Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry. Twelve people have died of COVID-19 so far.

The number also includes 696 confirmed cases from the Diamond Princess cruise ship.
