Top officials in Lebanon say they oppose repaying the country's sovereign debt even if it leads to a default. Talks are underway in Beirut over its Eurobond debt. The country is due to pay more than a billion U.S. dollars before the bond matures on Monday. Lebanon is facing an unprecedented financial crisis, which peaked last year amid an economic slowdown and anti-government protests.
