The Dallas Cowboys have made their move to keep quarterback Dak Prescott. According to Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News, the team offered the two-time Pro-Bowl QB a big contract that included 105 million U.S. dollars of guaranteed money and is worth 33 million per year.
The Cowboys' proposal is very generous. When Aaron Rodgers extended his contract with the Green bay Packers, he signed a four-year, 134-million-U.S.-dollar deal with 103 million guaranteed money. In 2019 summer, the Seattle Seahawks gave Russell Wilson a four-year, 134-million contract that includes 107 million guaranteed money and pays Wilson 35 million a year.
The Cowboys' offer is better than what Rodgers got and a little bit smaller than Wilson's, but it could still make Prescott one of the best paid players in the NFL.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, if Prescott doesn't accept the offer, the Cowboys will use the exclusive franchise tag on him. The cost of doing this is that the team must offer Prescott the average of the top five salaries for the current year, but in exchange, Prescott will be unable to negotiate with any other team.
Having passed a career-high 4,902 yards and made 30 touchdowns last season, Prescott gave the Cowboys enough reason to keep him. Though the 26-year-old also allowed 11 interceptions and failed to lead the team into the playoffs, the Cowboys believe in his potential. Their new head coach Mike McCarthy believes that Prescott will be the one that helps the team win Super Bowl.
However, no matter how much the team want to keep Prescott, they still have to be in compliance with the hard salary cap of the league, not to mention that Prescott's not the only player the Cowboys are trying to keep. Wide receiver Amari Cooper and cornerback Byron Jones also free agents. "America's team" will have some tough decisions to make in the offseason.
