Two grey herons were photographed building a nest in the dense woods in Guiyang, Guizhou Province in southwest China. The couple shared a sweet moment by grooming each other's feathers and "dancing" together. Grey herons are known for their cooperation in "marriage" – couples usually work together to build their homes, with the male bringing back branches and twigs, and females doing much of the construction work.

Grey herons breed in the spring and usually build their nests high in trees. The female will lay three to five eggs after their "house" is completed. Both birds incubate the eggs for around 25 days, and then both feed the chicks.
