While the tourism industry has been suspended amid the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has organized online training for tourism workers, preparing for the reopening of the sector.
Since February 12, more than 6,000 managers and employees from travel agencies, hotels and resorts have been trained in the 30-plus online training courses organized by the regional travel agency association.
The association plans to organize at least 70 online courses this year.
Meanwhile, the regional association of tourist resorts has launched live streaming of free training sessions in cooperation with some online platforms, with subjects including resuming operation of catering businesses and attracting customers online, said Li Lei, secretary-general of the association.
"We have invited domestic experts to introduce the new modes of the tourism industry under the circumstances of intelligence technology, hoping to bring some inspirations. So far, the effect is fairly good," Li said.
