Leishenshan Hospital in central China's Wuhan City on Wednesday discharged 72 people after they recovered from COVID-19 – the highest number of people discharged in a single day since the hospital's opening on February 8. As of Wednesday, over 1,200 patients were undergoing treatment at the hospital, while 568 had been discharged after recovery.

China's National Health Commission spokesman Mi Feng said on Thursday that COVID-19 had reached its peak as the number of new cases was on the decline.
