In two tweets on Sunday, The New York Times referred to China's lockdown policies as a "great cost to people's livelihoods and personal liberties," while the same measures in Italy are "risking its economy in an effort to contain Europe's worst coronavirus outbreak." How damaging can these kinds of narratives be? Is it possible not to politicize the crisis, and instead work in solidarity to fight the epidemic?
