Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday wrote back to World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus after receiving a letter from him on the COVID-19 epidemic.
In his letter, Xi appreciated Tedros' efforts in promoting the global fight against COVID-19, saying China will continue to support the international community in the battle against the epidemic.
China will accurately grasp the development of epidemic prevention and control at home and abroad, as well as the phased changes in the economic situation, so as to adjust the focus of work accordingly, Xi wrote.
China has been actively supporting the anti-epidemic efforts of the international community with concrete actions and has provided assistance to international organizations, including the WHO and more than 80 countries, Xi wrote.
China will continue to support the battle within its capacity, he added.
The COVID-19 outbreak once again demonstrates that mankind is a community with a shared future and the international community should support each other and work together, Xi stressed.
China has made incredible efforts in fighting against the virus under the leadership of Xi, Tedros wrote in his letter on March 17, adding that COVID-19 has been well stemmed thanks to both the efforts of the Chinese government and the Chinese people.
Tedros stressed that China's achievement shows the fact that the course of the epidemic can be put under control with concentrated effort.
He also expressed deep appreciation to China for its financial support to the WHO and the international anti-epidemic work.
