The city of Yongji in northern China's Shanxi Province has over 6 million square meters of fishponds, producing 20,000 tons of fish a year.

The COVID-19 outbreak had made the purchase of fish food difficult for farmers and reduced fish sales by around 80 percent.

But as the outbreak has come under control, the local government has been helping fish farmers to resume business.

They've helped renovate fish ponds, ensure sufficient supplies of fish food and attract more fish buyers.

More than 15 million young fish have now been put into the city's fish ponds and 5,000 tons of previously unsold fish have now been sold.
