Infrared cameras spotted elks in the forests of the Greater Khingan Range in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. They can be seen roaming and foraging freely in the forests. Elks are the largest and heaviest extant species in the deer family. Under protection, the wildlife population in the region has increased in recent years.
