It's another springtime in the pine forest in Kaiyang County in southwest China's Guizhou Province. The grey heron family that has resided here for over 30 years is about to welcome new family members. The parents are busy feeding their babies.

From late March to June, pairs of grey herons nest on trees in groups near shallow waters and marshland. There can be over 10 pairs in one tree.
