For families in close contact with COVID-19 patients, there are risks of cross-infection in bathrooms. The China Center for Disease Control and Prevention has provided some tips to avoid cross-infection from toilets.

Families with no close contact with COVID-19 patients:

- Close the toilet lid before you flush.

- Wash your hands properly afterward.

Families in close contact with COVID-19 patients:

- Use separate bathrooms.

- Otherwise, use chlorine-based disinfectants to clean the bathroom and areas with high human contact, such as the flush button, toilet seat, toilet bowl and bathroom doorknob.
