The Commercial Press, the first modern publishing organization in China, launched smartphone application "Hanfen" on Monday to offer language learning resources and services.

It is China's first language learning platform based on a large number of authoritative reference works, using cutting-edge technology such as artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and big data analysis.

The multi-function platform allows users to consult dictionaries, read literary masterpieces, obtain writing instruction, as well as learn traditional culture.

It contains 24 popular Chinese dictionaries and other reference books, including Xinhua Dictionary, Modern Chinese Dictionary, Ancient Chinese Dictionary and Chinese Art Encyclopedia, with more than 400,000 dictionary entries and over 60 million words in total.

The platform has also developed special reading programs dedicated to elementary and high school students, presenting numerous domestic and foreign literary masterpieces.

It contains Chinese classics, such as "Zhuangzi," "Xunzi," "Journey to the West" and "A Dream of Red Mansions," as well as the works by some of the best known writers worldwide, such as "Andersen's Fairytales" and Mark Twain's short stories.

The reading programs not only offer click-and-check and noting services, but also provide readers with personalized reading tips based on their reading habits and preferences.

Additionally, the mobile app integrates other learning resources, including original courses of famous teachers, and supports multiple learning methods, for instance, through text, audio, and video.

A spokesman with the Commercial Press said that the launch of the digital platform marks a new stage of language learning resource services in the new era of integrated publishing.

The platform is now open to public.
