The amusing antics of four giant panda cubs at Chongqing Zoo in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality have warmed the hearts of visitors.

The two pairs of panda cubs – named Shuangshuang and Chongchong, and Xixi and Qingqing – were born on June 23 last year at the zoo. Together, their names combine to mean "double joy and happiness" in Chinese.

The zoo reopened to the public last week. Many visitors stayed at home for nearly two months during the most serious stages of the COVID-19 pandemic in China. The 9-month-old pandas and their adorable adventures in the yard delighted many people.

The zoo's reopening followed the decision by Chongqing authorities to further downgrade the municipality's COVID-19 response to a Level 3 public health emergency, the second lowest level of China's four-tier emergency response system.
