Gustavo Barcelos Barra is a 40-year-old pharmacist and research coordinator for a Brazilian laboratory. When the COVID-19 outbreak began in Italy, he and his colleagues realized that it may soon arrive in Latin America. Without further ado, they started developing tests for the virus, which were later proven effective in protecting the Brazilians. "My work is my contribution to the Brazilian population," said Barra. What he fears most is infecting his family with the virus. To avoid this, he tests himself often and tries not to kiss or hug his kids. He hopes the effort he has made to fight COVID-19 will set a good example.
