Nearly 3,000 railway workers toiled away from Monday night into Tuesday morning at Taiyuan Railway Station in north China's Shanxi Province. After eight hours, they had successfully completed the construction of a new platform and two new lines. The work started on February 20 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, when many rail lines were suspended. The century-old station is a crucial part of north China's passenger railway network. Taiyuan's new platform and lines will reduce time intervals between trains by over one minute and increase traffic capacity in the region.
